Our School

WALKS•WEBS School Inc. is a private, bilingual, not-for-profit corporation organized under the laws of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and located in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. WALKS•WEBS is a community. We welcome diverse students from the western area of Puerto Rico. Our students have a strong sense of belonging, school spirit, and caring for their peers and teachers. Our most precious asset is our faculty which is creative, innovative, and enthusiastic. We are committed to preparing students for their future both academically and socially.


In our accreditation by Cognia we obtained a 380.50 out of 400 in our IEQ (Index of Education Quality).

OUR HISTORY

1987 Professor Linda Román Pratts establishes Winnie the Pooh. A unique Preschool Center in the town of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. The innovative curriculum focuses on “HighScope”, an active learning approach to education.

 

1997 The educational services are expanded to elementary grades up to eighth grade “Winnie’s Active Learning Kids School” (WALKS) is established. WALKS is devoted to developing bilingual students by providing equal instruction in both languages Spanish and English. The vision of the school evolved to meet current social and technological needs.

 

2013 WALKS•WEBS continues to grow. We expand our school to the secondary level. Providing an exceptional learning environment for students up to 12th grade. We were able to transition successfully to online, hybrid, and in-person teaching during the pandemic of 2020.

To provide a challenging and innovative bilingual educational program through a devoted and well supported faculty and staff for learners who believe in responsible leadership, who have the desire to learn critically, with up-to-date technology resources, and who abide by the fundamental compromise of living with values.

To provide a challenging curriculum in a safe, supportive environment, promoting learners to be thoughtful learners, self-disciplined, compassionate, and aware citizens in a global technological and diverse world.
